i LPSB UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION, j Dunedin, January 30. i A young man named William Guy i was received in the Hospital a few days ago, suffering great pain in the stomach, having received a severe thrust from a bamboo cane wielded by a Chinaman. His injuries were at first thought not to be serious, but today be became so bad that an operation became necessary, and -his depositions were taken. Two Chinamen — Ah Jam, fish hawker, and Gee Loy, vegetable- hawker — hare been arrested. Guy ' states that while he and another man were^playing with a ball it accidentally struck one of the Chinamen, who became enraged, and setting the assistance of another man, attacked the young men, when Guy received the thrust from a bamboo rod. He died this evening. He was 26 years of age.
