Wellington Land Board

' The Wellington Land Board had before ' them at their meeting on Saturday last a report from the Ranger of the Feilding L Special Settlement Block, showing that 1 out of 88 selectors, 23 were behind with 1 their improvements. The total area of 3 one block was 8946 acres, and the area ' required to be cultivated, 1789 acres at a ' cost of £4472. The area cultivated was 3171 acres at a cost of £7927, showing a surplus over required improvements of 5 1382 acres at a cost of £3455. It was ■ resolved to call upon those in arrear to. f show cause why their interests should i not be cancelled.

The Board has agreed to offer the Totara Reserves on the Oroua Coal Creek Block by auction, at £2 per acre, weighted with £225 for about 600,000 superficial feet of totara timber, and also about 490,000 superficial feet of totara at £180. The Board cancolled the interest of several selectors in blocks at Mangaone, Pohangiua, and Tararua for non-comph-with conditions. The Board have, since the 29th November last, sold 5807 acres 16 perches for £7803 Is 9d. Between April Ist and the 21st inst. the Board disposed of 8 1,086. acres 3 roods and s. perches, for £79,890 17s lid. The Boar 1, acting on the advice of the Crown Law Officers, has exouer ated those persona who took up land at the instigation of Coleman Phillips of any intention to commit a breach of the Land Act, and with regard to the action of Phillips, the Board resolved that the matter, se far as he was concerned, should be referred to the Minister of Justice to take action.
