The passage was an exceptionally fine one. Auckland. January 12 A man named Shepherd was .rescued from drowning in the harbor by a fisherman named Thomas Scarrott after considerable difficulty. This is the fifth life saved by Scarrott, who possesses the Royal Humane Society's medal. , It is said that a movement is on foot to obtain a medal for a man named J. F. Watson, who pluckily jumped over the Onehunga Wharf and rescued his wife and two children, who had fallen in and. were in great danger of bhejr-lives. Wellington, This Day.
