The passage was an exceptionally fine one. Auckland. January 12 A man named Shepherd was .rescued from drowning in the harbor by a fisherman named Thomas Scarrott after considerable difficulty. This is the fifth life saved by Scarrott, who possesses the Royal Humane Society's medal. , It is said that a movement is on foot to obtain a medal for a man named J. F. Watson, who pluckily jumped over the Onehunga Wharf and rescued his wife and two children, who had fallen in and. were in great danger of bhejr-lives. Wellington, This Day. Wool and" meat returns do not include sheep and rabbity skins," baoon, ham, hides, tallow or livestock ; grain does not include braji, chaff, flour, hops, oatmeal, potatoes, seeds* etc., all these smaller items are increasing year by year.
