Royal Dramatic Company
On Thursday night the Royal Dramatic Company played in the Assembly Rooms " Under : th& British Flag " to a large audience. Judging by the hearty applause and loud laughter, the play was highly appreciated. The performers kept the audience waiting for half an hour after the advertised time, but that is nothing new in Feilding, so there were no expressions of dissatisfaction. The acting throughout was very good, especially that of the veteran Mr Searle. This highly patriotic drama abounds in excit- > ing incidents. The part of Laban Brood" was well filled by Mr H. N. Douglas, Mr A. Wopds was very successful as George Seymour, while the 'comedy of Mr Searle, I as Fred Faggles, was highly amusing. I His trick waistcoat "fetched " the audience every time. Mr Barker, as the typhical. British Consul, was very good. Mr Campbell as Don Andre, Mr Reid as Jabez Dolman, Mr Percy as Terence the gaoler, were all vp 1 in their parts, only we would suggest to Don Andre that it would be tphis advantage! to study his squad drill a bit. Miss Austin Eliot, as Mary Hope, the heroine;. daughter of the Consul, was all that could be desired, and Miss Amy Coleman was delightful as Nancy. Treat, and her several appearances with Faggles were alwaysVthe cause of well earned applause. Of course there were faults, but these may be evpeeted in every show, and bur reporter was so highly pleased that he forgot to make a note of them. The , company played"' Lost in London " last night to a full house. At the. conclusion of the performance it was anY ; nounced that they would pay Feilding another visit at an early date, which will be duly announced.
