Sudden Death
We regret to learn that Mr Thomas Oliver, a very old and highly respected settler, died suddenly this morning at hia ftirm on the Awahuri road. It appears that Mr Oliver arose in his usual health this morning shortly after five o'clock, and went about his ordinary farm avocation. He then ate a hearty breakfast, after which he read a chapter in the Bible. He went outside again at about 8.15 and Mrs Oliver following him, discovered his senseless body lying in the back yard. Dr Charlton was sent for, but when he arrived he saw that life had already departed. Mrs Oliver was naturally much affected, and she now lies dangerously ill. Mr Oliver was 62 j'ears of age. Ho arrived in the colony about sixteen years ago, under the auspiceß of the Corporation. He leaves a widow, a son and daughter, both of whom are married, and an adopted daughter to mourn his loss. An inquest will, we believe, be held.
