Sale of Yearlings
(»£& PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, December 31. The first of the yearling sales was held to-day at Wellington Park, Mr Thomas' Morrin stud farm. About 300 persons were present, including lVJessrs W. B. Wilson, J. Crozier, and Day (Australia), SH. Gol lan and J. D. Ormond (Napier), G G. Stead and P. Butler ((Jhrislcuurch) D. O'Brien, and others from various parts of the Colony. The remarkable feature of the sale was the high price paid for the colt by JNordenfelt from Frailly, a splendid looking yerrlings, big, and with great hind quarters, Mr Gollan secured the cok at 2025 guineas, the highest price realised for a yearling in the colonies. The details of the sale are as follows : — IJay colt, by Leolinus — Maid of Athol Mr W. Eathbone (Waipawa), 100 guineas. Chestnut filly, by Nordenfeldt—Yattacy, Mr J. B. Williamson, 90 guineas. Brown colt, by Nordenfeldt — Albatross, Mr P. Butler, 330 guineas. Brown filly, by Nordenfeldt — Pungawerewere. Mr J. Marshall, 200 gnineas. Bay filly, by St. Leger — Necklace, Mr Nathan 310 guineas. Bay colt, by Nordenfeldt — Frailty, Mr S. H. Goilan, 2025 guineas. Biown filly, Brown Alice, by Nordenfeldt—Ouida, Mr G. G. Stead, 375 guineas.
