The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, DEC. 16, 1890. Vandalism
The Borough (Jouacii have been at some expense, and considerable trouble, to turn the waters of the Kiwitea j stream by planting willows at the si 'ale, in order to prevent . i further encroachments on tbe Kiuabblton Road. The secondary object is the convenience of the travelling public generally, but especially the sheep drorers, who would suffer taost if these precautions were not taken. ; Notwithstanding tiiia fact, there are some of tbe latter who have been disgracefully careless of their own interests, and have shown a selfish indifference to the interests " and -'convenience of others who may come after them. Yesterday morning a mob of sheep were driven up the Kimbolton road, and when they arrived at the place where the youngwillows are planted, and sending out their beautiful green shojots, the whole lot of the animals were allowed to get through the wire fence and devour them as ravenously as a swarm of loou-ts. That this could easily have been prevented goes without saying.
