Mr Parnell and the Liberal Party.
1 FEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. I ; London, December 10. , Mr T*arnell met with an enthusiastic reception on his arrival it Dublin. Mr Healey and the Chief Justice were\—^ hooted, the former being protected/*^ by the police. Owing, to the newspaper United Ireland supporting Mr Justin McCarthy r Mr Parheß seized the plaut; ejected the acting editoij, and destroyed this week's edition. [ This, action of Mr Parnell led to a free^fight with theofficers of the Prpvojs^ > I December 11. Mr Parnell addressed a meeting ia Dublin to-day from the rotunda iv Rutland Square. He characterised the action of the secessionists as disgraceful, and said he was fully prepared to accept a compromise or to* resign if it would bring Home Rule* nearer to the Irish people. .- HHre r however, would decline to resign the integrity of his part in deference tor sentiment and hypocrisy.: He declared he was supported by the people, and a resolution expressing confidence in him was carried unanimously. Mr Justin McCarthy has issued a manifesto appealiug to the people to ' save their country from destruction. The judgment of the populace ia invited on the subject, and the secessionists promise to abide by the dibision. The manifesto states that the rejection of Home Rule and a return to the Tories will be a fresh mandate of coercion, and all hope of liberty may be abandoned by this generation. At a meeting in Dublin Mr Parnell eulog sed Mr Gladstone and urged him to resume the position of anindei endent leader ; then Ireland would allow her leader to parley o_v equal terms, which would secure a a permanent settlement of the Irishv question. •■--• December 12. Mr Parnell, on his- way from Dublin to> Cork, met with a moßt enthusiastic reception, except at Mallow, a place 17 miles N.N.W. of the latter: city» wherejhe was very nearly mobbed.' ■'..- ! ■■> j
