Mr W. G. Haybittle was elected to* day to the Mayoralty of Feilding, unop« posed. We congratulate Mr Hnybittle on his election, and the ratepayers on hav.n^ secured the services of one who has already proved his usefulness in the Borough Council. Mr Frank Bray, of the Royal Hairdressing Saloon, Fergusson street, has now attached to his establishment an experienced tonsorial artist who has recently arrived from New South Wales to take up the position. This extra assistance has been made necessary to meet the largely increased trade. By the 'Frisco mail Messrs F, ILJaekson and Co. received the usual monthly report from their London agents, which refers to the hemp market as follows : — Heavy arrivals have somewhat depressed prices. At yesterday's sale, out of about 6000 bales offered only some 200 were sold at a further decline in price*. Superior soft Wright, £20 to £21 10* per ton ; good quality, well cleaned. £19 to £19 10s; lair to good, £17 to £18; common coarse and strawy. £15 to £17. Summary of Ladies' and Children's Hosiery imported expressly for Spring and Summer wear, at Te Aro House, Wellington.
