News has been received of the death of a Maori from poisoning. His w;fe administered a dose of M^ori raedieina made from tutu and he died a few hours afterwards. Wellington, November 14. The Public Works .Department has issued instructions to push on the. Gorge Railway to enable it to be opened at Christmas if possible. Timabit, Norember 14. Dr P. Macintyre, an ofd practioner here whose name was generally known through the Hall poisoning case, died this >noroing, C'hkistchukch, November 13. At the T?ohoe Court this morning three men named Smith, Nelson, and Forwood, were, charged with a breach of the Gaming and Lotteries Act by laying to tabsator odds on the raceuouroe on the Bth. They were fined £10 each. Mrs Hay, the woman fouud insensible yesterday on the banks of the Avon, died to-day. At the inquest the evidence showed that death resulted from carbolic acid poisouing. A verdict of suicide while temporarily iusane was returned. A young woman named Charlotte Leech was discovered floating down the Avon to-day. She was missed from her employment three weeks ago. The body was much decomposed.
