Fancy Dress Ball
The Plain and Fancy Dress Ball, held under the auspices of the Feilding Football Club on Friday last in the Assembly Booms, was a great success. The attendance was very good. The majority of the ladies and gentlemen were in evening dress, but the following appeared in oharacter : — Mrs Say well, * Night ' ; Miss Beard, 'Scotch Lassie'; Mr B. Whisker, 'Footballer'; Mr J. Whisker, ' Crettonier* ; Mr Martin, * Sta»*; Mr S. Matravers, ' Jack Shepperd' ; Mr Lovejoy, ' Crick ater'; Mr P«tb«rick, ' • The Sultan'; Mr G. Say well, • Sailor' ; Mr Bilderbeck, c Volunteer' ; Mr Manning, ' Tennis',; Mi Sandilands, ' Student' ; Mr Benson, ' Cricketer' ; Mr Sherwill, ' Gohtleman of the 17th Century* ; Mr Hunter, ' Tennis.' The music was exealkut, the band consisting of Mr B. V. Haybittlo, Mr Downes and Mr Hyde-Favker, who were assisted! at intervals by Mr Porthouse and Master Haykittls. A most > aun^uous suipper and the usual refreshI me.pß were provided, to which the guests did full justice. Dancing was kept tip 1 with spirit until an early hour the toU lowing morning, when the company separated after a pleasant night's enjoyment.
