The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1890
A Correction «. The Woodville Examiner says: — " The Knights of Labor at Ashurst are attempting to take steps to extinguish the title of the C. and E. Aid Corporation, by paying off the existing loan under which settlers are paying 7 per cent fur their mortgages and deferred sections, by raising a new loan in England at the present rate of interest of 4 to 5 pe* cent which (the speaker said) would effect '
a saying of £7000, which saving should be applied to the relief of the settlers on the Manchester Block." As this is somewhat misleading we quote the terms on which the laud was sold by the Corporation ; Throe years free ; three years at six per cent; seven years at seven per ceut, which makes an average rate of 5 and 2-13 per cent interest per annum for the whole term, and not seven j>er cent as stated.
