New Plymouth Murder
I.PTO UNITED PEKSB ASSOCIATION, j New Plymouth, Octooer 15In the Bscreation Ground murder case the prosecution brought forward 47 witnesses, «nd for the defence seventeen are expected to be called on. A juryman w;s taken ill last night but was sufficiently well to appear in Court this morning. Mr Fell, of Nelson, who appears for tie Crown, stated this v morning he had closed his case. A Maori witness (prisoner's father), could not be found. The juryman was examined by a doctor, who reported that he had been suffering from gastro-enteritis. The Court was adjourned till 2 o'clock. The Judge said that if the juryman was not able to go on it . . would necessitate discharging the whole jury and beginning the case again.
Miss Valentine, with a large staff of dressmakers, still occupies the commodious suite of rooms facing Dixon-street, and will be happy to see all her lady patrons as early during the season as possible. It would saye disappointment if ladies would make their selection as soon as convenient, and place them in her hands at Te Mo House, Wellington.
