Immediately the. members took their, seats a. writ of prohibition was served on them at the instance of Joseph Sowry, and the chairman announced that in consequenco they could not hold tbe enquiry. The Government have not yet fixed the polling day, several registrars having asked for an extension of time in which to purge the roll, and the Government are considering the advisability of doing so. If the request is granted the elections will not take place until the end of November, but, on the other hand, if the Government decline to accede to the request the polling will -probably take plaoe early in November.*
