Sir George Grey at Palmerston.

LPVB UNITED PKSSS ASSOCIATION. J Palmbrston N., This Day. Sir G. Grey ' 3 meeting last evening was attended by over 600 electors. He referred to the elections to be held for the first time with each holding equal privileges one man one vote, and urged each to do hia duty honestly. He dwelt on the preponderance of land owners and financial institutions in Parliaments of the past, and strongly urged the imposition of a tax on unimproved value of land. He referred to hia successful settlement of Kaffraria by small farmers ; to his Fair Rent Bil] and its rejection by the N.Z. Parliament and subsequent passage of a similar measure by the English Parliament ; to the Babbit Bill, and its proposal to plac# twenty new crimes in the statute book ; he denounced the proposal of federation with Australia, and suggested the holding of occasional conferences of the European nations in place of federation, involving the passing of laws by the federal parliament. He dwelt at some length on the rising of labor throughout the world to demand justice, and strongly denounced the retention of office by the Government till April or June next, holding that the new Parliament should be assembled at once after the election, and suggesting that the whole colony memorialise the Governor to this effeot, or take other steps to secure that the new representatives may, immediately after election, deal with the questions of the day. He strongly advised the electors to return new men to Parliament. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded, on the motion of Mr F. Pirani, seconded by Mr J. G. Bush. The chair was occupied by the Mayor.
