THE EARLY CLOSING MOVEMENT. TO THE BDITOR OF THE STAR. Sib, — As one of the deputation who waited upon the storekeepers and business people on Thursday last, I hasten to lay before the employees and public the result of our canvas for signatures of persons agreeing to close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons. Every business person in Feilding, including storekeepers, watchmakers, tailors,~ wheelrights, book makers, Ac^, signed the agreement, with the exception of Messrs S. J. Thompson and A. W. McFerran. Mr Thompson's reason was the exegencies of his business would not permit him closing on Wednesday, and Mr McFerran-^-rwell, his views were fully placed before the public in his letter last issue. , n. ? On behalf of the employees I most cordially thank those employers who so" willingly signified their intention to close and in conclusion will presume that the many will have to bow. to the dictum of and suffix for, the few.— l am, &c , . ' R. F. Hasbitxle, Chairman Employees Meeting.
