The Butter Trade

An informal meeting of gentlemen interested -in the above was held in the Denbigh Hotel on Saturday night to meet Mr Sawers, the Government expert. Dr Monckton presided. Mr Sawers, was invited to make a statement, which he did. to the entire satisfaction of his. audience who were much impressed with the adyantages to be derived where a proper sj'stern of dairy-farminjy is carried out. In the opinion of Mr Sawers this district was peculiarly well adapted for the production of cheese for export. In order that every settler might have the benefit of hearing Mr Sawers it was proposed by Mr W. G. Haybittle, seconded by Mr John Bartholomew, That Mr Sawers be invited to address a meeting in the Court House. Feilding, on Friday th« 19th instant, at 7.30 p.m., on the subject of the manufacture of butter and cheese in connection with the factory system. — Carried. Proposed by Dr Monckton, seconded by Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, That a yote of thanks be given to Mr Sawers. — Carried. The meeting then adjourned.
