Correspondence
MB SAXON AND THE KNIGHTS OF LABOK. TO THE KDITOK OF THE STAK Sir, — I will not enter into a minute criticism of Mr John Saxon's letter which appeared in your last Tuesday's issue, as .that will, no doubt, be done by an abler pen than linne, as well aa being dealt with. on a public platform. All I want to say is that I am rather surprised that a man of common sense and intelligence should so grossly misrepresent the Knights of Labor in the way Mr Saxon has attempted to do. I say misrepresent because, as a matter of fact, the principles of the order are the opposite of what he makes them out to be. 1 have looked carefully over Mr Saxon's letter to try and find any reference whatever to the tri^ aims and objects of the knighthood as stated at the meeting last Saturday evening, and have failed to find one. Mr Saxon has wasted powder and shot in firing big guns at something or another the Knights have nothing to do with, some of which they are as anxious to prevent as Mr Saxon, while he has not so much as blown a pea at any one of its principles. Why has he not thought fit to attack these ? Is it not because he sees they are invulnerable ? — I am, &c, W. Reading. Feilding, September 4, 1890. | This letter was unavoidably held over from last issue. — Ed. F. S.j
