Labour Troubles

I PER TOUTED PKEBB ASSOCIATION. ) Chbistchcbch, July 31. Owing to Messrs Wbitcombe and Tombs haying failed to satisfy the demands of the Maritime Council, the latter hare decided to adopt a complete boycott, and have given directions to all railway servants m the society to refrain from handling goods consigned either to or from that firm. The New Zealand Shipping Gnnpany, Shaw Savill Company, and the Wharf Labourers' Union h v* been authorised to take similar action. This Day. Whitcombe and Tombs having published a displayed advertisement in this morning's papers, stating their fixed objection not to have their factory subject to the Labor Union rules has caused the Maritime Council to boycott them. They say : " We take it as about the full limit of terrors the employers can be subjected to ; whether such tyranny can be enforced remains to be seen* In withstanding it we are fighting for a principle and freedom and not alone for ourselves, but for the employers of labor throughout the colony, to whom we now look for practical sympathy and liberal support in all our branches of business. We have a claim for such both now and in the future, no matter the result of this struggle, and we look forward confidently to reap the reward for holding and asserting our rights and with us all employers throughout the colony.
