Education Board
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held yesterday, Mr Carson presiding, the following members being also present : — Rev. Boss, Messrs Beckett, Notman, Hurley, Sanson, and Fry. The results of the pupil teachers and scholarship examinations having been read, the following scholarships were " awarded for two years: — Ist Class Senior — Arthur Lewis, Wanganui Boys' School ; James Elmslie, Waverley ; Helen Holmes, Feilding. Second Class Junior — George McFarlane, Hawera ; Martha Carmiehael, Hawera ; Maggie Oordon, Marten; W. Armstrong, Wanganui Boys' School ; Agnes E. Ingle (one year), Marton. Miss A. Prendergast (pupil teacher) was transferred to Bunnythorpe from Stoney Creek, and Mr P. O'Shea (pupil teacher), appointed in her place. In reply to a communication from the Sanson Committee, Mr James Mathews -was appointed cadet, and Miss Thompson promoted to full assistant teacher. It was resolved that Mr Wilks, teacher at Feilding, receive three months' notice oi termination of his engagement, and that the Executive endeavour to temporarily exchange Mrs Lissaman, of Feilding, with another school. Mangaone. — Resolved that the attention of the teacher at Mangaone be directed to the bad results of his pupi] teacher's examination. Executive. — The report of the Execu tive was adopted. Ashurst.' — With regard to the election of a chairman at Ashurst, it was resolved that the action of the Chairman was considered correct. Mangaone. — Resolved that dual desks be supplied to Mangaone, and that old desks be sent to' town, and that also the platform be removed. Halcombe.— Mr Sanson was instructed to report regarding repairs to the roof oi ** Halcombe school. / Awahuri. — Mr Sanson was asked to report as to the repairs to the building and e rounds at Awahuri. Kimbolfon Road.— Resolved to pay J62 12s 6d for fencing at Kimbolton Road. <Ehe JJoard then' adjourned.— 'Herald.
