The Feilding Hounds

Pastime for princes, prime sport of our nation, - Strength in. their sinew and bloom ort their cheek,. Health to the old, to the young-recreation,. All for enjoymeiit the hunting field seekLast Wednesday the above hounds met at Mr John Saxon's Potatau farm, and ftcapital day's sport has to be recorded. It was the bean ideal of ft bunting day, and! the balmy air and genial sun made it verypleasant for the many spectators, of whom there were several in carriages. After being entertained at lunch by Mr Saxon in his well-known hospitable manner, a. move was made to a large paddock iit front of the house, whioh was drawn blank,, but on entering the next paddock a. hare of the right sort was soon on the move whioh gave us a smart gallop over some very heavy-going country on the Halcombe road, where puss was lost. Asthe hounds could make nothing of her, it was resolved to try for another, when onewas found in a very few minutes in a. ploughed paddock, doubling through a big over-grown gorse fenoe (which puzzled: many of us) ; puss gave us a good gallop> of about 15 minutes, pointing to Mr Saxon's big scrub paddock, where she eventually got to. Here hares were so numerous the hounds were unable to stick to their hunted one. A drag was. then laid, over about four miles of nice hunting country which ended a very nice day's. sport. I noticed ih the front ranks Messrs; Lance (Master), Chssold, Harley, McDonald, Stuar"v Hunter, Gibsone, Yo ng,. Burnett, Rutherford and the huntsman. I was glad to see Rcake.|.he hin'smin^ rating those people who brought the grey hounds no the field, and I trust thisjoconrrence will not be seen again: Mvxes B. Htnde.
