♦ I.PSR TTNITBD PBEBS ASSOCIATION..' London. July 12. At auction to-day 1000 bales of New Zealand hemp were sold. Common sorts are easier, and good firmer. Seven Australian wheat cargoes on passage were sold at 37s 3d to 37s 6d. Two New Zealand cargoes at 36s and another at 35s 3d. Good New Zealand cheese, 48s to 50s ; medium, 36s to 445. July 14. The competition at the wool sales to-day was very keen. Merinos, except very faulty scoured, realised prices fully on a par with those ruling at the close of last sales, and in many instances fetched higher prices. Crossbreds had an upward tendency. July 15. Burkes bottling business is being converted into a company, with a capital of ii.800,000. At the wool auction there was keen competition, but prices were unchanged The sales close on the 24th. The number of bales carried forward is 100,000, and it is estimated the number available for the September series, including old stocks, is 250,000. The Bank of New Zealand shares are quoted at £S and £6. July 17. The wool market is excited and prices for merinos are five per cent higher than those ruling at the close of the May series. Fine Auckland hemp is quoted at L 22 10s ; fair to medium Wellington, J_il 9. New Zealand heavy oats are quoted at 28s 6d ; ordinary, 225. New Zealand mutton, 4^-d ; lamb, s^d ; beef -—hindquarters, 3Jd ; forequarters, 2d. At the woo! sales to-day crossbreds were dearer, but other sorts are unchanged.
