m I Borne interesting particulars about absentees and their properties are given in two returns laid before the House yesterday. The total value of teal and personal property owned by absentees (who are believed to be permanently absent) is £8,058,098., There" are a large number of p'Operties over 2000 acres in extent, and exceeding £'10,000 in value, their aggregate acreage being 1,027,399 acres and their value £1,635,289. The largest estate is that of Weld and Clifford (Marlborough) £135,000, and those in the Wellington provincial district and vicinity are as follow : — T. ?. Russell, Waipawa., £112,875; H.-R. Kussell, Waipawa and Patangata, £79,000 ; AJ. Balfour, Pahiatua £ 18,338 ; Qt Bill, Wanjranui, £10,471 ;■ O. Bill, Oroua, £3716; Rhoda Coote, Wairarapa North, £18,400; F. G. Dalgety,'; Pataagata, £45,910; W. KeiUerjßangitikei, £20,364 ; F.Larkworthy, (Manawatu, £55,102 ; Joseph Rhodes,' Waipawa, £15,870; estate of W. B. Rhodes, Rangitikei, £55,---985? W; Sanders, Patengata, £47,---76 6; i*. Silver,; Eangitikei, £15,082.
