Football
«. Writing to the Wauganui Chronicle anent the recent match " Three-quarter-back " says : — The Feilding- Wanganui match was a really fine exhibition of football throughout. Of course everyone says that the Wanganui backs -weie not m their usual form, and that they did not play so well as usual must be admitted. But was not this bad play caused simply by the superiority of the Feilding forwards ? A hard garae always shows up the weak points, and to my mind last Saturday's match clearly showed that the Wanganui team was bad in passing. If they were able to play against such a fast team often, no doubt they would improve quickly m this respect, but as they were on the day, 1 cannot help thinking the better team won. I hear the Wanganui Club are anxious for a return match, and if they are able to get every man in their team to go I hope it will come off ; if not, they had better leave it alone," The Feilding team had a very useful practice on Saturday last. A football match will be played on the 19th instant, at Feilding, between a team representing the Oroua bridge and Feilding 2nd fifteen. The Feilding Ist play a inatoh at Foxton on the same day.
