Wanganui Education Board

The monthly meeting of the Education BoaTd was held on Tuesday j moining. Present — Messrs G. Car- i son (in the chair), Baker, Sanson, Fry, Notman, Beckett, Hurley, and Rev. Ross. Boundaries. — Mr Fry's report re the boundaries of the Cheltenham and Kimbolton Road School districts was read, Mr Fry being authorised to meet the committee and settle the boundaries. Capitation. — It was decided to raise the capitatiou to school committees by 10 per cent per annum. Feilding. — The Board then went into Committee to consider a letter from the Feilding Committee, regarding the head-master and mistress, suggesting that as things are now goiug on smoothly the services of Mr Wilks and Mrs Lissaman be retained. Upou resuming the following resolution was carried, " That it is highly undesirable that the services of Mr (Vilks and Mrs Lissaman be retained in the Board's service ; and that the Feilding Committee be again requested to intimate whether they will be willing to send a deputation to the Board on the question, or, if the Committee prefer it, theßoard will supply it with auy information it may possess and that the Committee may desire in the matter," Mangaone. — The application of the Mangaone Committee re school extension was held over. Birmingham. — A letter was received from the Birmingham Committee re the disputed election.— Resolved, " That the Board is satisfied with the Committee's explanation, and that the election be upheld." Bunnythorpe. — Resolved, " That the Bunnythorpe Committee be empowered to superintend the ceiling of the school." The Board then adjourned.
