I PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. I London, June 16. The cricket match, Players v, Australians, began at Lords to-day. The weather was fine and the wicket in fair condition. Burn and Charleton are not playing. The players went in first and have lost three wickets for 158 runs, the principal scores being Ulyett, 40 ; Gunn, not out, 43, and Maurice Bead, 33. Chatterton was stumped by Blackham. Shrewsbury being ill his place in the team was taken by Carney. The English press, referring to the recent matches of the Australians, conaider the team is collapsing. The players at the close of the day's play had lost four wickets for 322. Barnes a faultless 67, and Gunn (not out) 147. Gunn was at the wickets all day, and only gave one chance, and that was not until he had passed the century. Six bowlers were tried, but the Nottingham professional completely mastered them all. The wicket was in perfect condition. June 20. The Players have lost 8 wickets for 474 runs.
