The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report in their London circular of 19th April: — New Zealand Hemp the past month has witnessed « further deeliue pf irom 25s to 35s per ton, the better •qualities exhibiting the greatest fall. .At the reduced range of values a fair <though inactive demand has prevailed recent arrivals, which for included a considerable quautity ef hemp sold ou c.i.f. terms some time previously at ; comparatively high prices, causing •buyers to operate only with extreme -caution. Some 4400 bales have been offered at public auction, of which •about' 26oo bales have been sold at -and. after the sales at irregular prices. Fair medium •A elliugton'has brought iroin £21 to £22 per ton, down to £18 10a to £29 per ton, aud good medium from £21 to £28 15s |>er ton, while ordinary fibre, mixed in colour and strawy, has realised from £17 to £19 rper too. .^ales of fair Auckland hay. been recorded at from £21 to £22 per ton.
