The Vivian Company
"Lady Audley's Secret," in which the Vivian Company opens in the Assembly Booms to-morrow, evening, is without doubt the finest novel Miss Braddon ever wrote. The sensation it created when it appeared in London, now many years ago, was immense. The young authoressshe was hardly out of her teena at that time — jumped at- once into the position she has ever since held, that of the first novelist of her class in the world. The dramatised version of the story is not quite so subtle in its intensity of power as the original, but it makes a play that is far above the average, both in dialogue and dramatic situation. After the drama the' humorous comedy of " Sam" will be produced. The company is a powerful one, comprising 12 first-class artistes, including Arthur and Helen Vivian, who have already gained a high reputation throughout the Australasian colonies. The fame of the company, together with the popular prices, will doubtless have the effect of drawing a good house.. We would advise those who wish to avoid the crush to secure reserved seats, tickets for which may be obtained at Mr Garthew's, and for which there is no extra charge/ We may mention that the company has just concluded a very successfulsix night's season in Wanganui, and the papers there speak in high terms of the merits of the performers. :
