The Mercantile Maritime Officers Association of New Zealand, -whose headquarters are at "Wellington, have addressed * circular to every steamship owner in New Zealand, making certain demands calculated to improve the position of officers. They ask that each vessel" shall carry three certificated officers, and ftiat the minimum pay shall be :— Chief offiiser, £16 per month; second, £14 ; third and fourth, £12.
