Davitt, and Burns werp amongst the speakers, The meeting was. an immense success, and those in favour of legalising eight hours were apparently greatly 1 in the ascendant. Mr Burns had an enormous audience, but the audience at the Socialist platforms was scanty. Mr Burns, Stepniak -the Nihilist, and Mrs Bes'ant urgefd 'that the legalising of eight- hours should be voluntary. The motion' was carried enthusiastically. The proceedings were orderly throughout.
