Feilding Jockey Club
A special general meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club was held at Mrs Hastie's Hotel on Thursday night. Upwards of twenty members were ' in attendance. Mr Maoarthur presided. At the request of the chairman the . secretary, Mr Sandilands, stated the object of the meeting, which was to consider an offer made by Mr S. R. Turner of a site for a new course. He produced plans drawn by Mr F. Owen, C.E., which were submitted to the meet. After a good deal of discussion, during which to proposal was considered from every point of view it was Proposed by Mr E. Gooibehere, seconded by Mr Kirton, That the Feilding Jockey tilnb accept Mr Turner's offer for a lease of a coiiis), on the property formerly known a J. Whisker's, containing 62 acres, at a yearly rental of £49 12b with iv purchasing clause at £24 per acre within 10 years, provided that 20 members of the club became guarantors for the rent. — Carried. , Resolved, That? Mr Sandilands, solicitor, prepare the neoessa'ry legal documents. . The required number of guarantors were obtained in the room. The usual vote of thanks to the chair closed the proceedings.
