Feilding Hounds

Awahuri was the fixture for the hounds last Thursday, and joyfully did we. ride off to the meet for " we had a splendid line -of country" as the immortal Mr Jorrock said "The 'best in England," for which a lot of credit is due to Mr Macniillan who got the line for us. .. The hounds were very fit and well, so Dick and Mr Elkington with the rest of the field had their work cut out to keep tip with them. Leaving the Endymioo Hotel we wended Our way down by Mr Macmillan's woolshed where, leaving the road we negociated a few stab fences and then we were "in it." The hounds raced and a blanket would have covered them as they went away oyer the side round where there was a nice stab double which I saw was negociated very cleverly by a good few. The running was then in a long semicircle up to Jackman's across the Awahuri road, over a whopper of a post and rail fence which I saw only fiye horsemen get. over. The hounds went all in a bunch and turning to the left on to the road they ran into their drag just by the Feilding side of the hotel, and all who were present saw that it was the best run of the season, and saying "good bye" we wished each of them luttk when theyimeet on Wednesday next at Mr Lance's of Malvern House, Halcombe, the residence of our Master. Myles B. Hynde.
