Postal Matters

(per press association.) Melbourne, This Day. Hon. F. T. Dehan, Postmaster-General, is not inclined to aocept the proposed reduction of colonial postal rates, as Victoria has already incurred heavy losses in reducing inland postages, and he considers any further concessions inopportune. If, however, the other colonies accept the proposal it would be invidious for Victoria to stand out. Brisbane, This Day. The Postmaster-General states he is unable to express an opinion on the question until further information is received as to what the loss means to the colony. Adelaide, This Day. It is understood that the Government are likely to oppose any alteration in postal rates involving a loss of revenue. Sydney, April 22. It is estimated that if postages are reduced by all the routes this colony will suffer a loss of about £13,000 annually.
