The New Electoral Boundaries
As far as the people hi the hew Rangitikei electorate are concerned, there appears to be many reasons for satisfaction to be found in the gazetted boundaries. There has always been a strong sympathy exist-_ ing between the residents of that part of the erstwhile Maria watu electorate and that part, of the old Bangitikei electorate, which have been conjoined to make the new Rangitikei district. Their interests have run : in much the same grooves, while the members who have represented them in Parliament have generally voted on the same side of the House. Of course there is a good deal of conjecture as to who will be the candidates seeking election, or re-election. We feel confident that Messrs Macaethuk and Abkwright will run for Rangitikei, while there is an off chance tfcat Mr Bjrttck will enter the lists against Mr G. Hutchison for Waitotara. , Whether Mr J. G. Wilson will be a candidate for .Palmerston is a moot .question, the reply to which is doubtful, unless he • receives a strong . requisition, and, if he did agree on the receipt of that to contest the seat, either a "local" man, or Mr FITzHJERBERT, would- be put up against him. ■•■' .
