The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, MAKCH 25, 1890. The Premier
It is with the most sincere-regret that we have to chronicle the continued indisposition of Sir Harry Atkinson. Although as our readers are already aware, the Premier has tried change of air in one .of the other colonies, and Various places in his own more favored land, in search of health; yet he has experienced no lasting benefit from any of them. He. is now so weak that a quarter of an hour's close application. to work is more than sufficient to prostrate him for the rest of the day. That he will be unable to face the coming Parliament we feel assured, and his retirement from political life at a very early date is almost a necessity if he hopes to prolbrig his valuable life. Should he do so at once it has been surmised that' Mr FitzGerald, the Auditor-Gen-eral, will retire on his pension, and Sir Harry Atkinson be appointed in his stead. In this event it is highly probable that the Hon. John Bryce will be called upon to assume the reins of power, and to form a reconstructed Ministry.
