Ashurst Licensing Election
The above took place on Saturday last and. excited a good deal ?of interest. -Seventy-six electors ifecordea their votes and of these^seventy -ftfnr polfod for Mr Rimmer, which is a high compliment to 'that gentleman. Jhe others received the following' votes :-^Aitkenv46 ; Manndera, 44 ; Middleton, 4^ j Q-alKehar; 43 ; Page, 34 ; Saunders;o2 ; Wood, 82 ; Gurrie, 31. The candidates in favour of the extension of the number of hotels were the public favorites. The official declaration of the poll appears elsewhere: ■ The election of a chairman of comuiitieflf will be held on .the ; 29bh:ingtant.
