It is now some months ago since our Volunteering contributor "Lance Corporal" announced the results of . the volley and independent prize firing, but it is only within the last few days that the Defence Department have officially announced the prizes The fi gures confirm exactly the announcement tbeu made, the Waugauui Rifles take first prize £45, Wanganui City Rifles second £37, Rangitikei Royals third £80, ' Manchester Rifles 26th £5. In the carbine class the Wanganui Nayals are first with £33, Rangitikei Cavalry second £25, and Wairoa Light Horse third with £20. Altogether, these seven prizes earned by the district made up a total of £195, out of a total vote of £503. No ' wonder some districts are jealous of Wanganui. — Herald.
