_ ♦ One l of Hfch« .most interesting events toberuri on the opening day of the approaching V.R.O. meeting which commences on Saturday will be the Epsendon Stakes, which is to be run at weight-for-age, over a mile and two and a-half furlongs, in which the following horses* are engaged : Carbine, Abercorn, Melos, Bravo, CfakJeigh, Lonsdale, Fishwife, Singapore, Budolpb, Fernando, Richelieu, and Chintz. In addition to being engaged in the Ascot Vale Stakes. Mr S cad's two year-old Medallion has been nominated for the Maiden Stakes (one mile and "" a-quarter), Junior Handicap (6xe furNursery Handicap (seven f urI^%ongß), and the All- Aged Stakes (one mile), to be run at the approaching y.R.O. meeting.
