Feilding School Committee

The ordinary monthly meeting of the committee was held at the school house on Tuesday evening last. PresentMessrs Worsfold (chairman), Reading (secretary), Curtis, Morey, Hicks, Watts. and Gould. The minutes of the previous ordinary and special meetings were read and confirmed. : The following correspondence was read : From the Eeucation Board, re the application for a subsidy of £5 10s to the shelter shed fund, stating that the application had been granted. Prom C. E. Major, Hawera ; A. G. Brett, Normanby; and J. Slipper, Bun- ■ nythorpe, circulars soliciting respectively the committee's vote in support of their candidature for membership of the Education Board. From E. Goodbehere, offering the sale Y«f an acre of land adjoining the sohool Vgreund for the sum of .£6O. 'The Head Teacher's usual monthly report was read. : Plans and specifications for the erection of shelter sheds were laid 'upon the table, .and a "vote of thanks "was" accorded to Mr Watts for preparing the same. . Besolved, That tenders for building shelter sheds be advertised for, to close on Monday next, and that the choice of site for the sheds be left with the Chairman, Mr Watts, and 'the Head Teacher. Messrs Hurley and Major were proposed to be voted for as candidates for a seat on the Education Board, and the choice fell Mr Hurley by the casting vote of the ■chairman. The treasurer was authorised to draw a cheque of £1 for petty cash. Eesolved, that Mr Goodbehere's letter fee forwarded to' the Board, asking them "what they will do in the matter. Resolved, That the annual picnic be held, the funds to be raised by subscriptions, and if the funds are sufficient that the prizes be given as usual. Accounts amounting to £3 14s 8d were passed for payment when sufficient funds are in hand, and the committee then adjourned. ■-
