Correspondence

HOSPITAL BOARD DISPUTE. TO THE EDITOR OF- THE STAR. Sir, — In your issue of Saturday last you state that at the last meeting of the Wanganui Borough Council the following letter was received : — " Gentlemen.— l have submitted according to promise certain questions, dealing with the grievance you complained of, to the Hospital Board, and the Chairman with the acquiesance of the members, ruled that there wasnothing in m}' action's requiring an aoology. Having thus treated your communication with all due courtesy, I have a right to expect some expression of regret for the abusive language used towards me in. your Council while under the erroneous impression that you had been insulted. — I am, &c, F. A. Monckton." Will you allow me to say that this is not true. No such le te • has ever been received by the Borough Council. I think if Dr Monckton enquires he will find his letter detained for postage.— l am, &o. Alfred J.. Parsons. [This is a most extraordinary piece of information. It is to be regretted that Mr Parsons did not. read the letter from Dr Monckton he is ■reported;, to have received, at the last meeting of the Borough Council.. Had he done so the newspaper reporters would not have fallen into the singular error of reproducing copies of a document now alleged to be lying in the post office detained for postage. At the same time we have perfect confidence in the good faith of the statement now made by Mr Parsons.—Ed. F.S.J
