FOXTON RACING CLUB'S MEETING The train which left for Foxton yesterday was literally crowded on arriving at its destination, owing no doubt to the fine day and the cheap excursion tickets which were issued by the railway authorties. The attendance was about 1500, and nearly £3000 passed through the machine. The racing on a whole was very good, and some good finishes were made. All the various officials of the Club worked hard to make the meeting a'; success, which they succeeded in-ttScom-plishing. Special praise is due .to the secretary, Mr F. G. Andrews, for the manner iv which everything passed off so harmoniously. The following are the results of the day's racing : — Flying Stakes, of 59 soys ; f-mile. Mr D. Campion's Cruiser, syrs, 7st 91b (Price) 1Mr J. Paul's Boulanger, 3yrs, 7st 71b . ' (Gollelo) 2 Mr F. Martin's Retina, 3yrs, Bst 61b - (Brown) 3 Retina was made hot favorite, with Cruiser second in -demand. The flag dropped with Boulanger at the post and Retina at the front, where she ran until tin bend for home, when Cruiser was brought along and led into the straight. Collelo had been making up his lost ground on Boulanger, but the . black horse was too good for him, and he. (Collelo) had to be content with second place. Dividend, £3 14s. Handicap Hurdles, of 50-sbvs; 2 miles and a distance. Mr J. Cameron's Gladiiis, aged, lOst 51b ... ... .:. (Owner) 1 Mr E. McEl wain's Oddfellow, aged, lOst 51b ... (T. Cameron) 2 Pukaka (9st) also .ran, and led the field for a mile and a half, but then dropped back beaten. Gladius came away and won rather easily. Dividend, £2 4s. Hack Hurdles, of 20 soys; 1 mile. Mr J. Purcell's The Colonel, aged, lOst (Higgins) 1 Mr J. Casey's Killarne'y, aged, lOst 41b (Proctor) 2 Also started— Gaspirini (list), Rere (lOst 81b), Zag Zig (lOst), Lady of the Lake (9st 91b), Moirangi (9st 71b), Jacob (9st 71b), Chester (9st 71b), Te Ata (9st), Rahui (9st), Delphine (9st), Delphine (9st), Tommy (9st) and Disturbance (93t). Out of fifteen starters not one fell. The Colonel look up the running from the start and was never headed,- winning easily by three lengths. Dividend, £5 Bs. Foxton E.G. Handicap, of 110 soys; second horse 10 soys ; 1£ miles. Mr J. Paul's b g foxton, 4yrs, Bst 51b _ (Belcher) 1 Mr A. Peter's Sincerity, aged, 7st 41b (Huxtable) 2 Mr W. Chapman's Montrose, syrs, Bst (McCormick) 3 Akatea (7st 61b) and GJadius (6st) also competed. Akatea and Montrose made the running for a mile, and it was here plainly -seen that neither had a show. Foxton then took the head of aftairs, and kept it to the finish, winning by a length and a half. Dividend, £B Bs. Hack Flat, of 20 soys ; 1 niile. Mr A. Peter's Nutmeg, aged, Bst 61b , (Huxtable) 1 Mr J. Birchley's Slave Girl, 6st 121 b (Price) 2 Nine others ran. . Tit Bit led for threequarters of a mile, when Nutmeg came through his horses and won easily by two lengths. Dividend, £2 14s. Stewards' Stakes, of 65 soys ; 1£ miles. Mr F. Martin's Retina, 3yrs, 7st 91b (Brown) 1 Mr J. Paul a Boulanger, 3yrs, 6st 111 - • (Collelo) 2 Mr D. Campion's Cruiser, syrs, 7st 51b ■..--. . (Price) 3 Montrose (Bst 31b) also ran, but was never in the race. The horses went well together until the bend for home, where Boulanger came 'out and looked all over a winner, but Retina shot past him and won hard held. A splendid race ensued down the straight between Cruiser and Boulanger, the .latter gaining second honors by an inch. Dividend, L 6. A Members race for a cup and 5 soys brought two horses, Poneke and Kiniberley, the latter winning easily. The Forced Handicap was won' by Akatea (7st 121 b). The other starters were Sincerity (Bst 51b) and Weka (7st).
