Education Reserves

The annual sales of leases of education . reserves are announced to take place during the current month, and as regards those situated in this neighborhood, will be offered at Palmerston on Wednesday next, and at Marton on Saturday 11th instant. The Palmerston sale includes - "Several sections in the Pohangina block and the Marton' sale several in tbe Apiti block. Both these blocks contain lands admirably adapted for .settlement and bojh districts are rapidly becoming improved." The reseryes themselves are of ! quality not inferior to the average quality in the respective blocks, and for the most part are good sections of fair workable area. The terms upon which the leases will be offered' appear to be liberal and are for a term of years .the -maximum allowed by the Act under* which they are administered by the School Commissioner viz., 42 years. Certain improvements carry compensation while the upset rentals are reasonable, and should -be the means of attracting buyers. It is to be borne in mmd that as the valne of the lands which surround these, reserves increases, so will the reserves themselves increase in value ' so that next year, if not disposed of this' they will in all probability command" a' higher upset rental than that. placed upon t;iem to day.
