Education Board
♦ The above Board was held on Thursday last. Present —Messrs Sanson (chair), Bridge, Baker, Fry, and Notman. In committee the following appointments were dealt with :--Bunnythorpe — Thomas Wilmott appointed cadet subject to the necessary certificates. Cheltenham — Mr Templar appointed. It was resolved that Miss McGonagle, of Ashurst, be paid as a 4th class pupil teacher for two quarters' and also that £20 be offered the committee towards the purchase and fencing of a section near the school. A lengthy correspondence was read as to the action of the Inspector in examining Ida Major, a pupil of the Hawera School at Manaia, where she passed, having failed at Hawera a few days previously.—Mr Fry moved and Mr Notman seconded that a committee be appointed, consisting of Messrs Carson, Bridge, Notman. and the mover to report at the January meeting as to re-examin-ations within a short period. The subject of Mr Flood's conduct in applying for a post at Terrace End direct to the committee, was discussed very briefly. The Board declared that it could see no reason to alter its previous resolution to Mr Flood's conduct. —The Board then adjourned.
