Searie, the> renowned sculler, took place thi£. afternoon, and was probably t& largest ever aeen in this Colony... It is estimated that fully 200,000 persons thronged the streets. The crush while the cortege passed along was so great that the traffic was entirely suspended, aud many persons narrowly escaped serious injury. All the influential business places were draped with flags of crape in niemory of the deceased, for whom the greatest respect 1 was entertained. The pallbearers included the leading scullers ■ of Australia, viz., Beach, Kemp, Laycock, Neilson, Stahsboiy, Triekett. ■ Hush, Matterson (Searle's trainer)," . Stephenson and McLean.
