SCHOOL CONCERTS.

TO THE KDITOH OF THE STAH. Sra, — In your report of the State School Concert which took place last Friday you. conclude by expressing a hope that a similar, entertainment may be "given at- nodistant date. In this you will, lam sure,, be joined by nearly every one who was present at this exceedingly interesting and. pleasant gathering. The affair is pronounced on all hands as one of the most thoroughly enjoyable entertainments ever .held in Feilding. Something of the kind .should take place at the very least once a . year, not only for its undoubted humanising influence, and the social and pleasurable feeling it is - calculated to produce, but also from an educational point of view,, as it mnst have a direct tendency to foster in the children a taste for the divine art, and would giye them scope and occasion for the exercise of their talent in this direction. - They would thus look forward to the event with interest and just pride, while their' parents 'and the public generally would anticipate it as one of thepleasantest of our. annual festivals Th& f committee would always be able to find, good use for the proceeds, -if only in providing the usual prizes and treat to the scholars. This would be a much more-' preferable way, too, than sending the littleones round begging,' while the donor3 would get some equivalent for their money ; and iudging from the attendance last Friday -there need be no fear -whatever about the patronage. , I would suggest that if the committee have not realised enough for their present object* they give another show before long, and they may rest assured the needed support will.be only too gladly given. — I am, &c.» , Paterfamilias ,
