Sir Henry Parkes announced in the House of Assembly to-day that he had made inquiries from the Colonial Office .with respect to the statement that royalty and members of the British Cabinet were indignant at Lord Carnngton becoming the mouthpiece of Australian nationalism in his vice-regal- speech. The reply received gives an absolute denial to the rumour. A cable message has been received that m the case Allison v. Burns (formerly Colonial Treasurer) the Privy Council have given judgment in favour of the lessees The case was a test one; to determine whether the Government hadpower to raise the pastoral rent of lessees fixed by the Land Boards, and the judgment means a loss to the Government of a quarter of a million of money. Grant depression exists 1 in the coal trade, and 6eveial hundreds of the men have been thrown out of work. The Geographical Society cabled to Stanley, congratulating "him on his escape from the dan gers-flfe Central Africa and the ■ success of 'his mission. They haye received a reply from the great explorer, thanking them and stating that Emm is improving. :
