Splendid weather favored the "Wangaaui Jockey Club's Spring Meeting, which attracted a large number of spectators. - The racing on a whole was very good and . some of the dividends paid on the machine .' were exceptionally large. £2930 was put through the totalisator. '

Trial Stakes, of 60 sovbj f-mile. — Mr D. Campion's Laurel, Bst 71b (M'Cormick), 1; Boulauger, 78t 91b,' 2; Cruiser, 6st 81b, 8. Kewa Eewa, Omaha, Eclat, and The Bean also ran. Eewa Eewa jumped away with the lead and maintained it to the straight when she died away, and Laurel came and won by two lengths. Dividends, £5 10s and £8 Bs.

Handicap Hubdles, of 70 sovs. — Mr | Mcßae's Clarice, 9st 51b (Pell), 1 ; OddI fellow, list 121b, 2 ; Rossiter, 9st fib, 3 Owhaoko and Kneecap competed. Eossiter led the field for a mile and a' half, v but here he had to give way to Clarice who won a good race by a length. Divi~ s dends, £4 17s and £12. The Hack Hurdles brought out Lucy Glitters, Zag Zig, Madcap, The Lamb r Gladius, and Nap. A grand race up "thestraight resulted in Gladius beating Lucy Glitters by half a length, Zag ' Zip; third. Dividends, £4 10s and £8 14s.

Wanganui Stakes, of 125 sovs; 1£ miles.— Mr ElJis' Lady Florin, 7st 101b r 1 ; Laurel, Bst 51b, 2 ; Eclat, 6st 111b, 3Kewa Eewa, Omaha and Hararnai also started. Lady Florin went to the front after half a mile bad been traversed, and despite M'Cormick's best efforts he could not get on terras with the brown mare, she winning rather easily. Dividends, £2 14s and £2 11s. - - .

Maiden Plate, of 40 soys ; 1£ miles. — Mr Chapman's Montrose (Powell), 1 ;\Legera, 2; The Bean, 3. Minnie, Doncaster, Retrenchment and Empress also ran.' Montrose won a grand race by half a length. Dividend, .£lO 8s; - ■-' Gladius won the Hack Flat Race from afield of eleven others, and paid his lucky investors the acceptable dividends of £17 Legera appropriated ' the* Consolatioa Race, with The Bean second. . -
