Band Meeting
A meeting of members of the Feildinj and Makino Bands was held at the Bar racks last night, with the object of pro moting the organisation of a first-clast band under the leadership of Mr R. F Haybittle. Mr Haybittle presided, and explained the object of the meeting. He pointec out several cognent reasons why it was extremely undesirable even in a rising township like Feilding to liave two bands. After a full discussion, in which nearly every one present expressed his approval of a united band, it was Proposed by Mr Porfchouse, seconded bj Mr Bilderbeck, That this meeting, composed of members ot the Feilding -'Brass Band and of the Makino Band, is of opinion that it is highly desirable that there be one efficient band for Feilding, and that with this view the two said bands should amalgamate under the name oi the Feilding Brass Band. — C irried. The .election of officers, then .took place, and resulted as follows: — Mr Haybittle, bandmaster ; Mr Daw, sub -bandmaster ; Mr Bilderbeok sergeant ; Mr R. Reid, corporal ; Mr Porthouse.'secretary and treasurer ; Messrs Gosling, Wilkinson, Reid, Bilderbeck, and H. 0. Fowles, cornnaitteemeu. It was resolved that all moneys earned by the band should be placed to the general fund after travelling ? expense"s^are paid. . . - -,v Some other rules were decided ,ppon, and the usual compliment to the chair closed the proceedings. ,
