The Fielding Star. SATURDAY, SEPT. 14, 1889. The Borough Elections
The return of Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge, J. G. Thompson and Walter Watts to the Council may be looked upon with perfect satisfaction by the burgesses as well as by the successful candidates, and the fact may also be accepted as conclusive evidence of the high estimation in which they are held by their fellow townsmen. We cordially sympathise with the unsuccessful candidates, Messrs Fowles, Worsfold and Lyne, and agree with the many residents who have since declared their regret that Mr Fowles did not secure a seat. It is generally admitted now that he was one of the most useful members the Council has yet had, and that it will require a good man ;.to fill his place. We hope Mr Worsf6ld will not allow his defeat to dishearten him, because it was no disgrace to be beaten by such worthy opponents. We trust on some future occasion to see both Mr Fowles and Mr Worsfold again candidates for municipal honors. The number of burgesses who voted was 130, and the votes registered 163,
