INTERPROVINCIAL NEWS
(per united press association.) Oamabit, September 7. Mr T. W. Hislop arrived in Oamaru this evening from the North, and was met at the railway station by a large crowd. There was much cheering and only a few groans. Mr Hislop, will be opposed by Mr W. H. Frith, who stood at the laat election, and probably Mr David Dunn, the Mayor of the town, who has promised to stand if requisitioned. Aitckxand. September 9. A Maori named Mark Tewenha, a a young man of 23 years, had his arm torn off at Churchill flax mills, Raglan, and died at the Waikato Hospital. The steamer Alameda, which sailed for San Francisco to-day, took £2500 worth of gold from Auckland, shipped for the bank of New Zealand at San Francisco. The vessel also had £330,000 worth from Sydney. : Principal Rainy left for San Franci«»co to-day. Napieb, September 9. The hoy Hutton was brought up at the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, charged with unlawfully wounding, and was remanded till next Monday. The boy Biota whom Hutton stabbed is still alive, though in a critical condition. Bibnhkth, September 9. Mr T. Horton, trading under the namo of Fell Bros, and Op., general 'merchants, to day filed a petition in bankruptcy. It is stated that the only creditor is the Bank of New Zealand, to the tune of olose upon £10,000.
